Recovering space and memory

The large room located in the basement of the Club is an opportunity to recover the historical memory of Milan. It was in fact home to a famous boxing gym, La Lombarda, from which came out, in the 50s and 60s, a world champion and two European champions. La Palestra was the scene of the film “Rocco e i suoi fratelli” (Rocco and His Brothers) by Luchino Visconti, a film and a director who are milestones in the history of Italian cinema, and a precious documentary that gives a cross-section of  the society of those years. This site should therefore recover its historical / cultural value, giving young people the opportunity to know and understand those social processes that are the background of the story told. La Palestra was unfortunately abandoned in the late ’70s for lack of patrons. It has since remained closed and never used.
